Signs or symptoms like pain with intercourse, painful menstrual period and pain for the duration of ovulation clearly point towards the health condition in women called Endometriosis. Estimated amounts of 15 percent (%) of women suffer from this disorder globally.

It usually occurs when a tissue similar to the lining of the uterus develops on the outside of the uterus.

This overgrown tissue cannot be shed as a part of the usual monthly cycle or periods. This build-up of tissue causes scar tissue to grow around the ovaries or fallopian tubes, resulting in severe pain and infertility.

HPV and Abnormal Pap Smear

HPV is simply Human Papillomavirus; it causes warts that appear on the anus and genitals of women. These viruses are spread by sexual interaction and infect the cervix which results in irregular pap smears.

There a currently twenty (20) million women infected with Human Papillomavirus and nearly six million new cases come up yearly. There may be occasions where there won’t be any visible genital warts and these types of Human Papillomavirus are called sub-clinical. Subclinical HPV is discovered when women have a pap smear with anomalous results.

Fibroids are the most common cause of an engorged uterus in women who are not pregnant. These fibroids are just growths of fibrous connective tissue and smooth muscle which tends to develop to the size of a grapefruit.

In most cases, women experience no significant symptoms of fibroids until a Physician diagnoses it during the pelvic investigation. Fibroids can be removed by a technique called as myomectomy which allows the woman to effectively carry the pregnancy.
